NHS Property Services - NHS Open Spaces
NHS Property Services (NHSPS) has developed a hybrid estate and technology solution called NHS Open Space (openspace.nhs.uk). It leverages NHSPS’ national portfolio of accessible, flexible and affordable accommodation, combining it with innovative technology to provide GPs and healthcare service providers more choice and control on how they use space within NHS properties. The NHS Open Space programme enables flexible room bookings for both clinical and non‐clinical space within NHS properties at sensible market rates. Rooms are available to be booked on an hourly, sessional, or daily basis and are open to both NHS and third‐party healthcare providers. The new platform, launched in April 2019, follows a successful two‐year pilot programme.

University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust
University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust was the first in the country to introduce an electronic system which links the telephone system with software to centralise the allocation of the job requests to Porter Allocators. The system links to the porter’s mobile phone, who can report on progress, resulting in significant time savings on wards. Patients can be advised of the estimated arrival time of the porter, so they are informed of when they are likely to be transferred. The system has also helped to reduce overnight stays and associated inpatient costs.
